About Us

At Bright Kiddies we value communication and care. This ensures that all families and staff are valued and thrive. We offer high quality, inclusive provision to all children and their families. We do this by following our embedded policies and procedures and by working together to provide individual learning plans in a safe, fun and secure environment. Staff are all Early Years trained and take pride in their learning and role. We continually reflect upon our practice and will attend training when a particular need is identified. We work in partnership with other professionals, such as Speech and Language Therapists, Early Help Workers, Social Workers, Teachers and others. They are always welcome in our setting to help support staff and our families. Our SENCO has a level 3 qualification in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities and works closely with families, staff and other professionals to make sure all children reach their full potential.

How to get to our Setting

Bright Kiddies is located in the 2nd Durrington Sea Scout Hut, which is down Pond Lane, adjacent to Durrington Park. Parking is free in the car park next to our setting. We have a ramp into the building, no steps and wide doors.

How We Support All children
At Bright Kiddies Pre-School we form professional and strong relationships with our families. This enables us to have open and honest conversations, which ensures that we meet the needs of the children.
Your child will be allocated a key person who will be responsible for your child’s development. They will ask you to fill in an All About Me questionnaire before the child starts to gain an insight to your child’s homelife, plus any concerns you may have. Using this and through the use of observations, assessments and planning for their next steps your child’s key worker will be able to identify any concerns which we be shared with you, our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENCO) and with consent we will contact other professionals if required. Our settings SENCO will work closely with you, your child’s keyworker and any other professionals involved to support you and your child’s care and learning.
Promoting positive behaviour is important to the setting, we utilise a range of techniques to ensure this is met. We will always discuss any behavioural concerns with you in order to maintain a consistent approach between home and the setting.
All of our staff work together using a variety of teaching methods to support all of the children in our setting. We use visuals and basic signs and have PECS available. Key workers plan activities tailored for each of their key children based on their interests and gaps in their development. Over a child’s first month with us, their key worker will fill in a Settling me in form. The setting uses Tapestry to record their learning journey. This allows parents to see what their child has been up to at Pre-school and for parents to share exciting news or new learning from home. This alongside their Settling me in form also allows us to record their progress and identify if the child needs additional help. If additional help and support is needed the keyworker will work closely with our SENCO and the parents to create a One Page Profile, which outlines how to support and enhance your child’s care and learning, which will be progressed with regular meetings to discuss their next steps, strategies and advice as appropriate.
How our setting support improves physical, mental and emotional health
We use Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum (EYFS), In The Moment Planning and children’s interests to plan. Every child is viewed as ‘unique’ therefore we plan for your child’s development based on observations of your child and evidence gained from their Learning Journal, All about me, and regular parent progress meetings.
The environment your child plays in, will be appropriate for their needs and additional support or resources will be supplied as appropriate. If we need to change the environment we have a meeting, risk assess and discuss how best to do things to ensure all children are able to access all activities.
We create Theraplay session for children that need it. Theraplay is an adult led, structured, interactive play session to improve self-esteem, confidence, healthy values, social skills and emotional wellbeing.
We value communication at Bright Kiddies, using Tapestry On-line Learning Journal, a Facebook closed parents’ group, Termly Newsletters and Daily updates on our board. We are always available to discuss any concerns you have regarding your child’s learning.
We also have Yoga, Beefit and Artventurer sessions. These sessions help promote and boost self-esteem, confidence, health, gross and fine motor skills, creativity and a sense of self.
All of these things ensure that all children are supported and given the tools and skills to improve physical, mental and emotional health.
How to access a place for your child
Once you have contacted us, we will let you know if we have availability or waitlist and send you a Prospectus. This contains information about our setting, including fees, sessions and what we provide. We will also offer you a show around. This is a good opportunity to see what we offer and to discuss any concerns or needs.
Once a place has been secured, we will send out a new starter letter. This contains information regarding key worker, start date, uniform, term dates and an invitation to a Stay and Play session. During the Stay and Play session your child’s key worker will fill in an All About me form, if this has not already been completed. They will discuss care routines, including nappy changing if needed and any concerns prior to their start date. We are able to administer prescribed medicines once a Care Plan and Medication Form has been filled in. If additional training is required to administer medicine, we will undertake this as necessary.
